100 Mile Market’s first Fresh@Home customer!
100 Mile Market last week launched Fresh@Home, an on-line local food service for homeowners. Janice Newton of Kitchener had read an article about 100 Mile Market, and was looking for a way to access a full range of local food for her and her family, and she reasoned that if 100 Mile Market products have been the choice of top chefs for the last three years, the food had to be great!
She particularly liked the fact that she could choose from such a wide selection, the reasonable pricing, easy navigation on the website and that she could incorporate the pick-up into whatever her schedule was at the weekend. “My daughter will eat fish, but not meat, so the choice of products helps me do meal planning for all the family, and we prefer to eat locally whenever we can”
Paul Knechtel, President 100 Mile Market, congratulated Janice on being the first Fresh@Home customer within hours of the website going live, and Jim Mills, Fresh@Home Program Manager thanks her with a gift certificate for next week’s purchases. “This is a milestone for 100 Mile Market” said Paul Knechtel, “we are inundated with consumers wanting to find our products which are either not available or difficult to find in regular supermarket channels, and now we have a way to fill that demand. We plan to expand beyond our current Fresh@Home service areas of Kitchener and Burlington in the coming weeks, so it’s a win for our farmers and it’s a win for consumers”.

100 Mile Market promotes locally grown and produced food
Our President, Paul Knechtel, was in Red Deer, Alberta, and his presentation to the Alberta Agriculture and Rural Development’s food distribution was reported on in the Red Deer Advocate;

Paul has had a great trip sharing what we do at 100 Mile Market, and just as importantly, learning about the local food scene out West and connecting with like-minded local food distribution pioneers. It’s terrific to see how much Canadians across the country want to know where their food is coming from, how it was grown/raised, and support our own economies in a sustainable way.
Eat well, eat local!
